Israel is currently fighting a war in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinians. This piece of land is on the west side of Israel and on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. From 1967 to 1994, the Gaza Strip was under Israeli control. It is currently claimed by Hammas, an Islamic Palestinian political organization.
   On December 27Israel returned fire on the Gaza Strip, from where the Palestinians had been firing into Israel. Since then, numerous bombings and rockets have occurred.
   On February 13 Israel’s Air Force attacked several places in the Gaza Strip. While these attacks were being administered, Hammas continued to request a cease-fire.
   This consistent fighting between these two groups dates back to Biblical times. Abraham was chosen by God to be the starting lineage of His people. God was going to give Abraham a son through Sarai, but Abraham became impatient with God’s timing. He then went to Sarai’s maidservant Hagar, and she had a son named Ishmael. God told Hagar that Ishmael’s descendants would always fight with His people. Abraham later had a son named Isaac through Sarai. His descendants are the Israelites, and Ishmael’s descendents are the Palestinians.
